    • QPR Gatekeeper Certificate Provided Upon Completion

QPR stands for Question, Persuade, and Refer — the 3 simple steps anyone can learn to help save a life from suicide (in only 2 hrs!).

Just as people trained in CPR and the Heimlich Maneuver help save thousands of lives each year, people trained in QPR learn how to recognize the warning signs of a suicide crisis and how to question, persuade, and refer someone to help.

Gatekeepers can be anyone, but include parents, friends, neighbors, teachers, doctors, nurses, office supervisors, police officers, advisors, caseworkers, firefighters, and many others who are strategically positioned to recognize and refer someone at risk of suicide.

    • YMHFA Certificate Provided Upon Completion

Youth Mental Health First Aid is designed to teach parents, family members, caregivers, teachers, school staff, neighbors, health and human services workers, and other caring citizens how to help an adolescent (age 12-18) who is experiencing a mental health or addictions challenge or is in crisis. Youth Mental Health First Aid is primarily designed for adults who regularly interact with young people.

The course introduces common mental health challenges for youth, reviews typical adolescent development, and teaches a 5-step action plan for how to help young people in both crisis and non-crisis situations. Topics covered in this 6-hr training include anxiety, depression, substance use, disorders in which psychosis may occur, disruptive behavior disorders (including AD/HD), and eating disorders.

A trauma-responsive lens will help providers connect and engage with those who are unlike them in life experience by highlighting indigenous ways of recovery that Western training misses, common challenges that hurt connections with clients in need, and ensuring your practice is a safe landing for people of color seeking mental health and social services.

The Nurtured Heart Approach training teaches a parenting and relationship methodology to build positive connections by focusing on a child's positive qualities rather than negative behaviors, using a framework called The Three Stands: refuse to energize negative behavior, recognize and energize positive behavior and success, and provide clear, un-energized limits and consequences. This 6-hr training aims to help children develop "inner wealth" by understanding that they receive attention and connection for positive actions, leading to improved self-regulation and personal growth.
